Snow castles

An artist admires his work.

After our excursion to Ellisville earlier today, Benjamin fell asleep on the way home (after a doozy of a tantrum because he didn't want to leave). So after some lunch, Mason and I headed out to the backyard.

Since the snowstorm last Monday, Mason had been so eager to get out back and play in the snow, but he came down with a double ear infection that night, so we have been reluctant to let him wear himself out back there this week.

Luckily, there was still some snow left today in the more shaded areas of the yard, so after tossing two different footballs, kicking the soccer ball around, and playing Wiffle Ball (into which I may have introduced a snowball or two... but you didn't see me do it and can't prove a thing!), Mason set out to build some snow castles.

Finally, after Mason had destroyed his art via the bellyflop, a few (OK, maybe a few dozen) more snowballs were thrown before we finally went back inside.

Also not pictured, because I finally wore out the camera's memory card (probably to Mason's delight), was a pretty gnarly snowman we created that had shovels for arms. Guess it won't be coming soon to a theater near you....
